Linebacker

Tahir Whitehead, Vontaze Burfict, Brandon Marshall, Marquel Lee, Te’Von Coney, Jason Cabinda, Nicholas Morrow (7)

The linebacker group in Oakland was upgraded in a major way this offseason, as the team went out and got some quality veterans to man the starting lineup. Vontaze Burfict and Brandon Marshall are two guys who have had plenty of success at the NFL level, and should start alongside Tahir Whitehead in Paul Guenther’s 4-3 defense.

Whitehead got off to a bit of a slow start in his first season in the Silver and Black last season, but came on to lead the team in tackles. This is a starting three that should be solid for the Raiders in 2019, and they also give their young talent at the position, guys like Marquel Lee, Jason Cabinda, and Nicholas Morrow a chance to continue to grow.

One player to keep an eye on this summer is undrafted free agent Te’Von Coney, who we liked as one of the better middle linebackers in the 2019 draft class. Sure, he does not have the best 40-time, but he is a guy who just flat out has a nose for the ball, and this coaching staff is going to love having him.
