Defense

On the defensive side of the ball, one battle that will occur during the preseason will come through the cornerback position.. Rookie Trayvon Mullen will touch the NFL field for the first time, and look to prove that he can be a starter on this Raiders defense. He will compete with players such as Nevin Lawson, Nick Nelson, Riley Curtis, Daryl Worley, and other rookie corner Isaiah Johnson.

At defensive end, we will get our first look at Clelin Ferrell, who will look to prove the world of sports media wrong, and prove that he was worthy of the fourth pick in the draft. On the other side of the defensive line, Arden Key will look to show his improvements, as well as rookie Maxx Crosby, who received high praises from Mike Mayock on draft night.

If the Raiders want to improve in 2019, they will have to improve on their pass rush. These three should be on the field a good amount in the preseason, giving Raiders fans a glimpse of what to expect this upcoming season.

We may also get a glimpse of how the Oakland Raiders will set up their defensive backs this season. It is assumed that Lamarcus Joyner will be a slot corner, while rookie Johnathan Abram and Karl Joseph will team up at the safety positions. Abram will surely be on the field often, but it is probable that we won’t see much of Karl Joseph, and possibly none of Lamarcus Joyner.
