5 defensive stats the Oakland Raiders need to improve on in 2019
Adjusted Net Yards Per Pass Attempt
This was a stat we mentioned in the offensive stat article, and it is no less critical for the defense.
Disrupting a quarterback and being able to lower his efficiency is the key to success for a defense.
The percentage in terms of wins and losses are not the same given how much more critical offense is a unit, but the best defenses are generally good in this stat.
Unfortunately, the Raiders ranked dead last in this stat in 2018 allowing 8.0 yards per attempt. It is not surprising consider Oakland at one point made Nick Mullens look like a pro bowler last season, but it’s none the less disheartening.
Improvement in ANY/A will be one of the final pieces in seeing this defense turn around. They can only improve in it by first enhancing in the first four stats before it. There are obviously other stats beyond this that will need improvement, but these five are certainly a good start.
