Antonio Brown has appeared in many headlines over his short stint with the Oakland Raiders. With everything that’s been reported over the last couple weeks about Brown, he’ll rejoin the Oakland Raiders in the coming days.
Antonio Brown has been the center of attention this offseason, and that hype followed him once he arrived in Napa for training camp in a hot air balloon.
The Raiders star wide receiver has missed nearly all of camp due to a foot ailment, which landed him on the non-football injury list. Over the extended time he’s missed, Brown has seen a foot specialist and his feet are now considered to be a nonissue moving forward.
Meanwhile, Brown has also filled a grievance in order to continue using the same style helmet that he’s used over his last nine seasons in the NFL. This debacle was created when the NFL put into place a new rule to increase the strength and size of the helmets players wear, which lead to the ban of Brown’s older helmet.
Brown claimed that the new helmet’s that the league is enforcing will affect his vision and play on the field. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Brown would even go as far as threatening to quit football if he couldn’t wear his older style helmet.
During this time, the Raiders have sent Brown multiple helmets that are approved by the NFL, but none of them have been quite what he’s looking for. Throughout this ‘helmet holdout’ the Raiders have stood by Brown’s side supporting his actions.
It didn’t take long to hear the end result of ‘helmet gate’ as Adam Schefter reported Monday that an arbitrator ruled against Brown’s effort to wear his old helmet.
Just after it was released that the arbitrator decided not to allow the older style of helmet, Brown took to his twitter account, where he states that he’s going to rejoin his teammates on the field after getting back to full health.
Raiders teammates and coaches only saw a small glimpse of Brown on the field in camp, and when he’s out there, it certainly elevates everybody else with his preparation and how he practices. The seven-time pro-bowl pass catcher will be back on the field sooner rather than later.
