Clelin Ferrell
Clelin Ferrell will forever have a ginormous target glued to his back, being ‘Khalil Mack‘s replacement (poor guy). As the No.4 overall selection, expectations are through the roof. Ferrell has done some nice things through the first three weeks, recording one sack, two passes defended and nine total tackles, but the Raiders still need more from their young-talented rookie.
Ferrell’s someone to watch because he doesn’t just lineup in one spot – he’s lined up at defensive end and defensive tackle thus far. His versatility serves the team nicely, but most importantly they want immediate production after spending top-notch draft capital on the former Clemson Tiger.
According to PFF, Ferrell’s win rate on passes thrown 2.6+ seconds after the snap is 11.8%. He finds himself trailing other first-round pass rushers such as, Josh Allen and Brian Burns who have a greater win rate by almost 12%.
The Raiders were criticized by many for the Ferrell selection at No.4, but he’s arguably their best defensive end on the team moving forward. Even with an improved pass rush this season, the Raiders still need more impact up front and Ferrell is someone who Paul Guenther will continue to lean on, despite being a rookie.
