Options for the Oakland Raiders if they decide to move on from Derek Carr
By Nick Ellis
Tua Tagovailoa
As of now, the Raiders hold two first-round picks in the middle of the round, thanks to the haul they got when they traded away Khalil Mack. A few weeks ago, there would have been no way that Tua Tagovailoa would fall to the Raiders, but with a combination of Tua’s injury, and the direction the Raiders’ season has been heading, this is a real possibility.
Gruden would surely love having a quarterback with the skillset that Tua possesses, and the NFL is moving towards his style of play. Tua can dominate with his pocket passing, as well as make plays with his legs, something that Carr has clearly been lacking.
The saying “Tank for Tua” has been going around all year for teams such as the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals, but if the Raiders could get him in the middle of the first round, with the group of young playmakers they already have, it may be hard for Gruden to pass up on him. He may not start right away, but could be Carr’s successor in Las Vegas.
