Damon Arnette, CB Ohio State
The biggest wildcard in all of this that has gone unmentioned so far is that, while the Raiders do have two first round draft picks, one of them will inevitably be used on a top tier talent at wide receiver. Which means the other will potentially be left for deciding between a defensive back or a lineback, and in the instance they decided not to go linebacker, insert Damon Arnette.
In his most recent 7-round Mock Draft, Just Blog Baby’s Jordan Alexis had the future Las Vegas Raiders taking Arnette with their 92nd overall pick in the 3rd round. He stated that Arnette was “easily the most improved of the bunch” when referencing the talented group of Ohio State cornerbacks and has been “versatile playing as an outside corner and in the slot throughout his career, so he provides instant depth at multiple spots”.
Of course, Oakland has gone the route of an Ohio State corner in the first round in recent memory, selecting Gareon Conley back in 2017. However, the cornerback position is still an issue, and while Conley is gone, and some good pieces remain, do not be surprised if they covet this position group once again in 2020.
