3 Pros and Cons to the Las Vegas Raiders signing Tom Brady
By Nick Ellis
Pro: Brady could help develop a young backup
If Tom Brady came to the Raiders, they would surely get rid of Derek Carr, as they can release him and get hit with only a $5 million cap hit. With that being said, it would be smart for the Raiders to draft a quarterback that could learn and develop behind Brady for a couple of years.
Arguably the two best quarterbacks in the NFL this year, Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson, sat behind other quarterbacks for a bit before they got their time to shine. Sitting behind another quarterback and getting time to learn the system before being thrown to the wolves has proven to be beneficial for young signal-callers, and what better player to learn from than Tom Brady?
The Raiders hold two first round picks in 2020, and five of the first 91 picks in the entire NFL Draft. There is good, young talent at the quarterback position in this draft class, and based on what we have seen from those who sat behind Brady in New England, getting to watch the best that ever did is not such a bad thing.
