Trevon Diggs
Alabama’s Trevon Diggs was the former No.1 wide receiver recruit in the state of Maryland before taking his talents to Tuscaloosa. His bloodlines are well established throughout NFL circles as he’s the younger brother of Minnesota Vikings star pass-catcher Stephon Diggs. Now, T.Diggs who’s converted to cornerback dating back to his sophomore season has thrown his hat in the ring as a top-three cornerback prospect in this year’s class.
Diggs enters the NFL Draft after posting his most productive college season, recording a career-high 3 interceptions with one being a pick-six and 11 passes defended. His roots of playing wide receiver are recognizable, allocating a superb ability to locate the ball and make adequate adjustments with the ball in the air. Diggs has experience in playing press coverage while also contributing to Alabama’s run support quite frequently during his senior year.
Planting Diggs opposite of last year’s second-round pick Trayvon Mullen gives the Raiders a young combination who possess a large upside. With last seasons statistics where the Raiders defense allowed 256 passing yards per game, ranking in the bottom third of the NFL, they find themselves in dire need of defensive playmakers. Diggs isn’t a finished product with only three years of cornerback experience, but he projects as someone who could help revamp the Raiders defense for years to come.
