2020 NFL scouting combine recap: Jonathan Taylor blazes with 4.39 forty time

Vertical Jump

During his time at Boston College, A.J. Dillon became one of the more reliable, and productive backs in America, and he dominated in the drills on Friday night. Dillon not only had the best vertical jump, coming in with a 41-inch leap, but he also dominate the broad jump, besting Jet Anderson from TCU by three inches.

Broad Jump

Outside of Dillon, there was really no player in this top-10 of the broad jump that were considered an early round pick in 2020. However, we have seen guys have a great combine, and then follow it up with a solid Pro Day, earning a Day 2 selection in either the second or third rounds. Some of these broad jump numbers are astonishing.

3-Cone Drill

Joshua Kelley had some outstanding moments during his time at UCLA, becoming a key cog in Chip Kelly’s offense the last two seasons. He bested fellow Pac-12 star Eno Benjamin in the 3-cone drill on Friday, becoming the only two prospects who cracked the seven-second mark. Another Pac-12 back, J.J. Taylor, finished with a 7.0 score on the nose.

20-Yard Shuttle

Not only did J.J. Taylor impress in the 3-cone drill, but he also nearly took home the best score in the 20-yard shuffle, showing the kind of lateral explosiveness that fans of the Wildcats grew accustomed to the past few season. Taylor finished with a 4.24 mark, good enough for sixth on the list, while Benjamin and Kelley also posted top-10 numbers.

The Raiders have already brought back Jalen Richard this offseason on an extension, and are locked in at the top of the depth chart with Josh Jacobs. Still, they are going to scout every one of these backs, and if one of the better ones falls to them in the fourth round, it would not be out of the question for Mike Mayock and company to use a depth pick on the position group.
