The Tennessee Titans went on a late-season run that ended in the AFC Championship Game, a loss to the eventual Super Bowl Champs, the Kansas City Chiefs. Led by a defensive-minded head coach in Mike Vrabel, who understands that if his team is to compete with the likes of Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, he needs to address his defense.

The two glaring needs on the Titans defense are at edge rusher and cornerback.  Vic Beasley was added in free agency but there is still work to be done, on the edge.  Jadeveon Clowney is still a free agent and the Titans are reportedly showing interest, which shows they know they have to upgrade there.

There are several teams selecting between the Raiders at pick 19 and the Titans at 29 that share the same needs as Tennessee which could force their hand to make a trade. Baltimore, Philadelphia, Seattle, Minnesota, and New England are franchises who could use help with their pass rush, and who also have a need at cornerback.

With the top pass rusher off the board in Ohio State’s Chase Young, the Titans make the move to trade up to 19 to select LSU’s pass rush specialist, K’Lavon Chaisson. Chaisson was a big reason why the Tigers went undefeated last season, and he was a beast late in the season, making him a perfect fit in Tennessee.

In this deal the Raiders move pick 19 and 121 to the Titans for pick 29 and 61, moving ten slots back where they could still address their own needs at cornerback. In addition, the Silver and Black move into the second round, which is one of Mayock’s goals heading into the 2020 NFL Draft.
