Seven days after becoming the Raiders general manager, Mike Mayock scouted the 2019 CFP National Championship Game, and has come away with a haul.

It did not take long for Mike Mayock to get to work as the general manager of the then-Oakland Raiders. Signing his deal on New Years Eve, Mayock attended the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship Game seven days later, and came away from that contest with the foundation for the current Las Vegas Raiders.

The national title game that year featured the Clemson Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide, a rematch of the title game from two years earlier. Led by Deshaun Watson in 2017, the Tigers defeated the Crimson Tide, and while they were underdogs against Alabama in 2019, they were still able to come away with the victory.

As Mayock watched, freshman Trevor Lawrence led his team to a national title game, starting his run as the best quarterback prospect in college football. However, Lawrence was not draft eligible in the 2019 NFL Draft, so Mayock had his work to do on other prospects, and he got quite the haul a few months later.
