Paul Guenther, Defensive Coordinator

Defensive Coordinator Paul Guenther is entering his third season with the Raiders and has the most talented defensive roster to date since taking over in 2018. The 2019 offseason saw the Raiders move on from team captain Tahir Whitehead, utility defensive back Daryl Worley and veteran defensive ends Benson Mayowa and Josh Mauro.

This offseason, the team has brought in a bunch of talent on the defensive side of the ball at all three levels of the defense. Cory Littleton and Nick Kwiatkoski will join the linebacker group, and Damarious Randall, Amik Robertson, and Damon Arnette will help bolster the secondary.

In addition, Maliek Collins will help solidify an already solid defensive line on the inside, with Carl Nassib helping out on the outside. Finally, the Raiders did more than just add talent  on the field, Jon Gruden brought in veteran defensive line coach Rod Marinelli to replace fan favorite Brenston Buckner to help improve the defensive line, as well as potentially serve as an advisor/safety net for the defensive staff.

It is make or break time for Guenther, as Marinelli could easily step in and take over as DC if the season does not get off to a fast start defensively.
