Las Vegas Raiders secondary will have plenty of camp battles

Prince Amukamara vs. Damon Arnette

With the No. 19 overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Raiders selected Damon Arnette out of Ohio State, a solid cover guy who plays the game with an Alpha mentality. The pick came as a bit of surprise, as many did not have a first round grade on Arnette, most likely because of all the attention put on teammate, Jeffrey Okudah, who went No. 3 overall.

Still, he is going to be expected to come in and battle for a starting job opposite Trayvon Mullen, who proved to be every bit the part of a CB1 as a rookie last season. For insurance, the Raiders added Prince Amukamara via free agency, and he will be Arnette’s biggest hurdle in cracking the starting lineup.

Amukamara is a former first rounder and a Super Bowl champion, but he is in no way a shoe-in to start over Arnette. The Raiders are going to have an interesting summer, as there is no word on training camp, so the veteran could get the edge, but as we have seen, Jon Gruden is going to put the best players on the field.
