Las Vegas Raiders: 6 Free agents that could compete for starting jobs

Darqueze Dennard, CB, 28

Darqueze Dennard had a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars ready to go but the two sides could not agree on the final terms and he remains a free agent. The deal was reportedly worth $13.5 million deal over three years and he likely will not be able to find a team to match that at this point in the offseason.

Similar to Ryan, Dennard may be willing to settle for a cut-price deal to land a team in 2020 and it could be structured to be heavy on the incentives for the relatively young CB to prove he can still play in this league. Dennard was a first round pick not long ago so it’s clear that talent evaluators believed he has the talent to start in this league and he can still prove that.

Dennard has played primarily as a nickel cornerback in recent years and he could come in and compete for that role on the Raiders right away. It can take cornerbacks time to adapt to the speed of the NFL and the Raiders may be better off bringing in a veteran rather than relying on the likes of Amik Robertson or Isaiah Johnson right away.
