Las Vegas Raiders RT Trent Brown left off PFF’s top-25 tackles list
By Brad Weiss
Pro Football Focus recently ranked the top-25 offensive tackles in football, and Raiders start right tackle Trent Brown was left off the list.
One of the then-Oakland Raiders biggest offseason moves heading into the 2019 NFL season was the addition of Super Bowl-winning offensive tackle Trent Brown. Serving as the left tackle for the New England Patriots 2018 team, Brown dominated defenses, establishing himself as one of the best in the game.
With Kolton Miller set at left tackle, the Raiders made the decision to move Brown over to the right side, where he was elite when with the San Francisco 49ers. Brown would turn in a Pro Bowl season with the Silver and Black, proving well worth the money, and helping to anchor one of the best offensive lines in football.
However, Brown apparently was not good enough for the national media. When Pro Football Focus released their top-25 offensive tackles for the 2020 NFL season, Brown was left off the list.
Trent Brown left off of top-25
When it comes to the top offensive tackles in the NFL, there is no way you can leave Trent Brown off of a list of 25. This is a guy who was named a Pro Bowler for the first time in his career, and to watch him play last season, was to see him throw around elite edge rushers like Von Miller and Khalil Mack.
Brown being left off this list is par for the course for the Raiders offensive linemen, as elite center Rodney Hudson was not even listed in the top-100 players in the NFL recently. The truth this, this is a starting five that can go up against offensive line in the league in terms of total talent, and Brown is a big reason why that is the case.
One reason why you do not see many Raiders players get named to these kinds of lists is because the team has had only one winning season since 2002. With the roster they have currently constructed, the Silver and Black should be a winning team for many years, and after signing a brand new four-year contract prior to the 2019 season, Brown is going to be a big part of the solution moving forward.
