AFC West Week 2: Raiders shine in Las Vegas debut, move to 2-0
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs remained in a close affair with their division rival Los Angeles Chargers for much of the game, resulting in an overtime win, 23-20. By the final whistle, it was clear that the most valuable player for the Chiefs in the win was…Harrison Butker? Perhaps that statement is a reach, but one can’t argue with the box score.
The Chargers’ defense managed to keep Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense from running rampant for a majority of the game, resulting in a tightly contested affair. In the end in overtime, it was Harrison Butker with the heroics, converting a 58-yard field goal to send Kansas City to 2-0. Fun fact: it was the second 58-yard field goal for Butker on the day, making him the second NFL kicker in history to convert two 58-yard field goals in one game (following Greg Zuerlein in 2012).
The next matchup between these two teams will be key to monitor as the season rolls along. A year ago, Kansas City’s two matchups with Los Angeles proved to be tightly contested games, just like what we saw on Sunday.
