Even coming into the game on a short week, the Kansas City Chiefs will be a heavy favorite against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
The Las Vegas Raiders started the 2020 campaign out at 2-0, after victories against two NFC South teams in the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints. Since then, it has been all downhill, as injuries and inconsistent play have forced them to lose two straight, including a winnable game against the Buffalo Bills this past weekend.
As they turn the page to Week 5, a foe awaits in the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs.
Trayvon Mullen will need to play better against this Chiefs offense, as he struggled at times against Stefon Diggs in the Raiders Week 4 loss to the Bills. The Chiefs have dominant wideouts in guys like Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, and Mecole Hardman, so there is no shortage of weapons for Patrick Mahomes.
In addition, Las Vegas needs Cory Littleton to finally step up and be the player they spent so much money on, as coverage against the likes of Travis Kelce will be paramount on Sunday. This is an area the Raiders have been gashed by the Chiefs in the past, so hopefully the addition of an elite coverage linebacker can help fill that void.
Chiefs defense dominated on Monday night
While the Chiefs offense struggled at times on Monday, as they did against the Los Angeles Chargers a few weeks back, their defense stepped up big time. They have guys up front who can get push, and their secondary, led by Tyrann Mathieu, came up with a big pick-six late in the game.
A lot of the focus is put on Mahomes and this Chiefs offense, but the defense has actually been one of the best in the league this season. That is not a great recipe for success for this Raiders team this weekend, and they will have to play a perfect brand of football if they want to leave Arrowhead with a victory.
