Las Vegas Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs: 3 Things to Watch In Week 5

Derek Carr’s Performance

Derek Carr has had some bad games over the past few seasons in Arrowhead Stadium, and against the Chiefs in general beating them only twice in his career. Recently, it has gotten worse since Patrick Mahomes took over as the team’s quarterback, and in the last two meetings at Arrowhead, Carr and company have been outscored 75-12.

Arrowhead Stadium is also one of the harder stadiums to play in as a visiting team, but that doesn’t excuse some of the terrible play Carr has had there.  He’s always said the cold weather doesn’t affect him because he played in cold places in college like Wyoming and had success there, but when it’s been cold he definitely struggles a bit more.

He and this offense is going to need to have a huge game, hold on to the ball, and put up touchdowns when in the red zone and not field goals. Hopefully with Henry Ruggs III back on the practice field that means he will be back on Sunday, and he will play an important role helping open up this offense.

This is important game for the Raiders, as they certainly do not want to drop a third straight game heading into their bye week.  The Chiefs have struggled offensively at times this season when the opposing front four can cause Mahomes to be uncomfortable in the pocket, so that has to be the gameplan going in. Anything can happen on any given Sunday, and hopefully, Carr finds some magic in Week 5.
