Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers: 3 things to watch in Week 9

Can the Raiders slow down Justin Herbert?

Rookie QB Justin Herbert has been a revelation for the Chargers since taking over for Tyrod Taylor in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Herbert has thrown for 300 yards in half of his starts and has at least three passing touchdowns in his last four games with 15 total so far.

Before the Week 8 matchup with Denver, Herbert had cut down on his turnovers with no interceptions against the Saints and Jaguars but reverted to his initial form with two picks against a talented Broncos defense. He is not afraid to throw the ball downfield and is currently 9th in the NFL with an 8.0 yards per attempt average.

The rookie has also done plenty of damage with his legs, rushing for 142 yards and two touchdowns so far this season.

The Raiders will have their hands full with this young QB and they will need to pressure him though it will be a tall task against a team that has given up just 14 sacks this season. Paul Guenther and the defense will need to be at their best to confuse this young QB who looks like he is on his way to becoming a star.

The Raiders’ pass defense has struggled so far this season, but have also faced a few of the top QBs in the NFL so playing a rookie, even a talented one, should be a welcome change.
