Las Vegas Raiders: Will history repeat itself in 2020?

Where the numbers failed us

Here’s one thing that the numbers failed us in this week. For spreads, the Raiders had covered three points in six of their seven wins over the Falcons (86%) and 3 of 3 wins in the ATL. That obviously got wiped out because the Raiders lost.

However, what should have gone our way was this game going over 53.5 points. And I must say, if it did, the Raiders would have had a great shot to win it outright.

53.5 is a pretty big total, right? Well, in six of 14 games between the Raiders and Falcons, the total eclipsed 53.5 points. That comes out to 43% of the time when these two teams matched up, they went over 53.5.

When those games were in Atlanta, it dropped a bit to 2 of 7 games that went over 53.5 points (29%). Even at 29%, going over 53.5 points at that rate is fantastic. So, imagine my dismay when I see the Raiders struggling to finish drives and only wind up with two field goals.
