Raiders new-look defense against this Chargers offense
As the points and first downs continued to mount on Sunday, most of Raider Nation was calling for the firing of defensive coordinator Paul Guenther. Much-maligned during his time as the DC for the franchise, Guenther was given his walking papers on Sunday night, and the Raiders will now have a new man in charge moving forward.
That man is a familiar face in Rod Marinelli, who will look to put in some new schemes and hopefully stop the bleeding when it comes to this defense. Las Vegas will be without so many key pieces on that side of the ball on Thursday, and on a short week, it will be interesting to see what kind of gameplan Marinelli can put together against a good young quarterback like Justin Herbert.
No matter what Marinelli puts together, it has to be better than the product the Raiders have been trotting out there really since the second Kansas City game. They have been almost laughable on defense in recent weeks, and if the Raiders are going to do anything to make the playoffs, it really starts on that side of the ball.
