Hunter Renfrow – Met Expectations

Hunter Renfrow is a model of consistency and his talent is evident every time he makes a tough catch to extend a drive on third down. Third and Renfrow is his official moniker with Raider Nation and he deserved the title, as more than half of his receptions accounted for first downs.

After a great rookie season relative to his draft position, Renfrow came back strong in year two with 56 catches for 656 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games. He did not have any 100-yard games, unlike 2019, but he was able to consistently hover between 35-70 yards in most games in his role as a safety valve for Carr.

Renfrow may never become a superstar receiver, and may never have a 1,000-yard season, but his ability to get open in big spots is nearly unmatched on the Raiders. He does not have the game-breaking speed of Ruggs or the stature of Edwards, but he is a technician of the game and is perhaps the best route runner on the team.

The second-year receiver also contributed more on special teams this season and averaged 11.5 yards per punt return, a big improvement from his mark of 7.6 in 2019. Jon Gruden and Derek Carr know they have a special player in Hunter Renfrow and he is well on his way to becoming a cult hero among Raider Nation.
