Foster Moreau – TE

The former LSU Tiger was the Raiders’ third fourth round pick in the 2019 draft. While he didn’t have much production in the passing game in college, his blocking was solid, and he showed reliable hands.

In his rookie year, Foster Moreau was a solid side-kick to star tight end, Darren Waller. While he only produced 174 yards on 21 receptions, he was a RedZone threat to be counted on, finishing with five touchdowns on the year. Moreau also showed off his consistent hands and reliably with only four of the passes going his way not resulting in a reception.

As a result of the signing of veteran, and likely future hall-of-Famer in Jason Witten during the pre-2020 off-season, Moreau was relegated back to third on the depth chart at the tight end position.

Despite his playing time being sparse, Moreau finished with more receiving yards and matched the touchdown total of Jason Witten. He also accumulated only 34 fewer yards than his rookie season, despite catching only seven balls compared to 21 in 2019.

This shows that Moreau is a little more explosive than he showed during his rookie campaign, where he averaged 8.3 yards per reception compared to 20 flat this past season.

Witten clearly lost a step this season and Moreau definitely should have seen a lot more playing time in my opinion. I believe Foster Moreau solidifies the tight-end group as a solid 2nd-fiddle behind one of the best tight ends in the league in Darren Waller for the foreseeable future.
