Raiders: 10 cut candidates to keep an eye on

  • Edge Mario Addison, Buffalo Bills
  • Cap savings if cut: $8.2 million (post-June 1 cut)

Interestingly, Mario Addison didn’t experience a career breakthrough until his age-29 term with the Carolina Panthers. Between 2016 and 2019, he recorded at least nine sacks in each season.

Addison signed a three-year deal worth $30.5 million and rejoined his former defensive coordinator, now the head coach of the Buffalo Bills, Sean McDermott. In his first season with the team, he saw a decline in defensive snap count from the previous season and a moderate drop in pass-rush production, logging five sacks and 11 quarterback pressures.

Still, for an edge-rusher who played 56 percent of the defensive snaps, Addison showed he could provide a boost for the Raiders’ front line. The 33-year-old would have solid value on a lesser deal.

If the Bills cut Addison and collect their savings, the Raiders can add him to their rotation. He’s played in even- and odd-man fronts in Carolina, which would allow him to adjust seamlessly in multiple fronts within Bradley’s scheme. In a role that allows him to tee off on the quarterback, he’s a solid acquisition.
