Raiders must avoid the safety spot in the first round
During the 2019 NFL Draft, the Raiders used a first-round pick on a safety, bringing in Abram, who missed nearly his entire rookie campaign and struggled in Year 2. Over the last two drafts, the Silver and Black have had five first-round picks, and outside of Josh Jacobs, who can we really say has lived up to that first-round billing.
With many position groups to target, I just do not see the talent at the safety spot to use the No. 17 overall pick on. In no way am I saying that the Raiders should not try and address the safety spot after the first round, even in the second, but using a No. 17 overall pick on the position group, with this draft class, is a reach.
Based on projections, they could easily get a Jevon Holland, Trevon Moehrig, or even Andre Cisco in the second round, a place where it would actually be a solid get.

Bringing in a veteran safety makes sense for this roster, and there is talent available, including Tre Boston, who played his best football under Bradley in Los Angeles. For the Raiders, the time for testing young talent in the secondary has come and gone, now it is time to bring in some experienced players to complement the draft picks already brought in over the last few drafts.
