Las Vegas Raiders: 50 greatest players in franchise history

It’s been a great football career so far for left guard Kelechi Osemele. He has already won a Super Bowl as a member of the 2012 Baltimore Ravens. He was arguably the best left guard in football after joining the Raiders in 2016 as a free agent. Let’s just say Osemele might go down as one of the best free-agent acquisitions in the history of the Silver and Black.

Osemele was a huge reason that the Raiders went 12-4 and made the AFC playoffs in 2016. He not only made his first trip to the Pro Bowl that fall but was named first-team All-Pro. Osemele would back up his first season in the Bay Area with another great campaign. Even though the Raiders were six wins worse last year, Osemele made his second trip to the Pro Bowl and would be named a starter on the AFC team.

Osemele became a fan favorite for Raider Nation, and a prime example of what playing with passion along the offensive line looks like. He plays with an obvious mean streak he first found within himself as an All-American for the Iowa State Cyclones in the Big 12.

Sadly, the Raiders opted to stock up on draft picks in 2018 and traded the talented lineman to the New York Jets, and Osemele’s last few seasons were cut short by shoulder and knee injuries suffered while in New York and later with the Kansas City Chiefs.

A short stay, but a productive one that puts him on this list of all-time greats.
