Las Vegas Raiders pre-2021 NFL Draft position review: Wide Receiver

Starters – John Brown, Henry Ruggs, Hunter Renfrow

After Nelson Agholor’s breakout 2020 season he signed a big-money deal with the New England Patriots for two years, $22 million which was likely way more than the Raiders were willing to spend. The Raiders turned around and replaced him with a veteran in John Brown who has had a more productive career so far on 1 year, $3,75 million deal.

Brown would slot in as one of the outside receivers in place of the departed Agholor and opposite him would be Henry Ruggs. The rookie showed flashes of incredible talent in games against Kansas City and Atlanta but they were few and far in between.

He struggled with his route running and had issues staying healthy which limited the potential of the offense.  Ruggs will be looking to bounce back with a strong sophomore campaign and has already been working with QB Derek Carr this offseason to build up their chemistry.

The third starter is former fifth-round pick Hunter Renfrow who had yet another solid season for the Raiders. Renfrow is quickly becoming a model of consistency and is one of Derek Carr’s most reliable targets, especially on third down. He is one of the better slot receivers in the league and he is only getting better and more explosive every year.
