Las Vegas Raiders: 2021 Post-draft 53 man roster prediction

Tight Ends: Darren Waller, Foster Moreau, Derek Carrier

Darren Waller is one of the best tight ends in the league and is the best player on the Raiders roster, so engrave his name in stone at the top of the depth chart no matter what happens. After Walter, we can pencil in a promising young tight end, Foster Moreau.

Moreau’s playing time took a dive last season when Gruden brought in Jason Witten, but those days are over and Moreau can step back into the backup tight end role.

Derek Carrier is the third tight end on the list and as a Gruden favorite should be on the final roster as well. Carrier is a non-traditional tight end who can line up at wide receiver and also contributes on special teams. He is the original “Joker” of Gruden’s second reign with the Raiders and does a lot of things well to make him a valuable piece.

There is still the possibility that Gruden will want to have four tight ends on the roster, and he has a couple of intriguing options in Matt Bushman and Carson Williams. Bushman is an undrafted free agent out of BYU who had injury issues in college and Williams is a former basketball player who is trying to make it in the NFL.

Gruden will get a good look at both of these guys during the offseason and maybe they flash enough ability to earn the 4th tight end spot on the roster. Nick Bowers, an undrafted free agent signed in 2020, is a likely practice squad candidate.
