Las Vegas Raiders: Early takeaways from the start of 2021 training camp

The detail of Gus Bradley

Last season, the Raiders finally made the decision to part ways with Paul Guenther, who was just a terrible fit as the team’s defensive coordinator. This offseason, the Raiders brought in Gus Bradley to take over for Guenther, and all early indications are that he has incredible attention to detail, and is involved in every play.

That is the kind of leadership that this young defense needs, as it appears he is going to let his athletes play to their strengths, and not get too complicated with his schemes. That will allow these guys to roam free and should have a tremendous impact on guys like Arnette, Cory Littleton, and a few others who struggled under Guenther in 2020.

There is so much time left to go in training camp, and we will see things changing each day as we navigate the month of August. For the Raiders, they will be looking to get over the playoff hump, and all signs point to the newest faces being big-time additions early on.
