Las Vegas Raiders: 5 surprises from the first unofficial 2021 depth chart
Tanner Muse is in the starting lineup
This one is probably the biggest surprise, so let’s start the list here. Tanner Muse comes from a pretty strong pedigree, as not only is he from the beloved and Uber successful program via Clemson University, but he won two national titles there.
A former All-American, Muse was a safety for the Tigers and is enjoying his first full camp as a full-time linebacker in the NFL. While he played safety in college, due to his collection of size and speed, the Raiders have moved him to the linebacker position at the next level, and it is paying off.
After missing his entire rookie season in 2020 due to injury, Muse has come on strong in training camp and has pushed veteran Nick Kwiatkoski to the outside looking in on the second team camp squad. Now this is not official, and Muse has to have a strong showing in the preseason to convince head coach Jon Gruden to stick with him for the opener, but all signs so far are pointing to the former Clemson Tiger to take over the strong-side linebacker position.
