Las Vegas Raiders beat Los Angeles Rams in sloppy preseason game No. 2

The Las Vegas Raiders pull off a win late in the 4th quarter with a 29-yard pass to Marcell Ateman beating the Los Angeles Rams 17-16 on a failed two-point conversion.
The Las Vegas Raiders pulled out a win against the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday night, but it was a sloppy victory, to say the least. Quarterback Nathan Peterman once again was under center, taking every snap of the team’s 17-16 victory, but he did not play as well as he did in the opener.
After a week of scrimmages on the practice field filled with light sparring, the Raiders were able to get the victory on Saturday, but the team has some serious questions after this one. Both Clelin Ferrell and Carl Nassib struggled to get pressure all game long, and that enabled Bryce Perkins to make some deep throws, as he evaded the blitzes Gus Bradley dialed up.
Ferrell struggled throughout, as he was consistently held back in pass rushing and was pushed out of the way on run plays. The Raiders’ pass defense was also an issue, but we did see another great performance from Nate Hobbs, who had two passes defended, and the lone interception on the night for the Silver and Black.
Raiders need better execution
Statistically speaking, the Raiders didn’t have a clear breakout player. Peterman threw two interceptions, one of which that came in the fourth quarter at a key point in the game. Overall, he was 16-of-24 with only 172 yards. Marcell Ateman had a nice game, and we did see a Trey Ragas touchdown early on, but for the most part, this offense was stagnant all game long.
It would take to the very end to eke out this victory, as the Rams drove the length of the field, and scored, electing to go for two, as there is no overtime in preseason games. They failed to convert, and the Raiders the victory, but after this performance, there are plenty of question marks in terms of the roster.
