Las Vegas Raiders: Derek Carr sets franchise single-season passing record

Derek Carr has plenty of records when it comes to the history of the Raiders, and in the biggest game of his career, he set another one.
Going into their matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers, the Las Vegas Raiders knew they needed a big game from franchise quarterback Derek Carr. In a win-or-go-home matchup inside Allegiant Stadium, the Raiders were looking to punch their ticket to the playoffs for only the third time since the 2002 season, and the second of Carr’s career as the team’s starting quarterback.
Also going into the battle, Carr was inching close to another franchise record, as he needed only 71 passing yards to tie Rich Gannon for the most in a single-season in team history. Needing only that many, it was a given that he would set the record, and he did just that, and he now finds himself with another in a long line of records he has set since taking over as the starter in 2014.
Raiders need Carr to lead them to the playoffs
With plenty of game left, the Raiders need to find a way to come out on top, as the Silver and Black have battled through so much adversity to get here. The team has won three straight games heading into this crucial Sunday night matchup, beating playoff contenders like Cleveland and Indianapolis on the road along the way.
For Carr, this is a game that can make-or-break his legacy with the Raiders, as many fans do not see him in the same light as guys like Ken Stabler, Jim Plunkett, or Gannon, all quarterbacks who have led this team to the Super Bowl. In terms of numbers, Carr is putting himself in a position to be very hard to be caught in terms of team records, but getting to the playoffs, and winning in the playoffs will define how he is seen forever when it comes to Raider Nation.
