Round 7, Pick 230: Jimmy Morrissey, C

There really isn’t much to be said that I didn’t already say about Jimmy Morrissey back during the midseason rookie report card.

Morrissey was cut before the season even started but found a place on the Houston Texans roster. Morrissey started 4 games in the back half of the season for the Texans and gave up 2 sacks while committing two penalties.

So while he would eventually start for a team as a 7th round pick he didn’t play well. The Raiders did have a question mark at the center position and so it made sense to take a chance on a guy late; 7th round picks tend to be hit or miss.

With that in mind, I wouldn’t really say this was a terrible pick even if he was cut before the season started. He didn’t play well for the Texans but as I said, the team needed depth at center, and like most 7th round picks it didn’t work out.

  • Performance Grade: D (for the Texans)
  • Pick Grade: C-

Overall Draft Grade: B
