Raiders: Placing an early grade on the hire of Dave Ziegler

Early Grade

Whatever the case, the Raiders needed change, and although Mayock got unjustly blamed for many blunders that were likely out of his hands as the Raiders had a power struggle with former head coach Jon Gruden, it did seem the former TV analyst was possibly out of his element in the front office.

The grade here is based on the track record of Ziegler, and he could fail, it is an easier job to accomplish with the New England Patriots, as their success could branch on more than just the front office with longtime head coach Bill Belichick having a large say within the franchise.

Maybe there were more experienced candidates out there, but the Ziegler hire is solid, and kudos to Mark Davis for realizing this franchise did indeed need some much-needed change and veteran within an NFL front office.

Grade: B+
