Dave Ziegler is now the General Manager of the Las Vegas Raiders, and here, we place an early grade on the hire of the former Patriots Director of Personnel.

Just this past week we were able to grade the hiring of new head coach Josh McDaniels — so it would only seem fitting to also grade the newest General manager hire in Dave Ziegler.

To understand who just Dave Ziegler is — can be somewhat complicated. The 44-year-old has had quite the rise since his starting in 2010 as a player personnel assistant.

Ziegler is a former college wide receiver, plying his trade at John Carroll University, where he was teammates with McDaniels, a relationship that has seen the two nearly inseparable since McDaniels was instrumental in having Ziegler on board for his first head coaching tenure in Denver in 2010.

The two were and always going to be a package deal, a deal that Raiders owner Mark Davis believed in so much, he essentially hired the pair at the same time.
