In what promises to be a wild off-season, the Raiders will be searching for help at wide receiver. Could they be in play for DK Metcalf?

Since the days of Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree, the wide receiver position has plagued the Raiders. While they do have a budding star in Hunter Renfrow, he does his damage out of the slot. They have long needed a threat on the boundary. After trades for luminaries such as Antonio Brown, Trevor Davis, and Zay Jones, the Raiders attempted to rectify the issue in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Selecting Henry Ruggs in the first round and Bryan Edwards in the third round. Mercifully, this appeared to be working. After a quiet rookie season, Ruggs exploded onto the scene in 2021. A true big-play threat, he was developing into everything the Raiders hoped he would be.

Then, of course, tragedy struck. After a drunk driving incident that left a woman deceased, the Raiders released Ruggs.

While Zay Jones and Bryan Edwards did their best to fill the void left by Ruggs, they just aren’t that caliber of player. As such, the Raiders are back at square one in their wide receiver search. While the draft always has enticing options at the position, younger players have not always fared well in head coach Josh McDaniels offense.

As such, a trade may be the best option. One of the options? DK Metcalf.
