Raiders: 3 players Las Vegas could trade prior to the 2022 NFL Draft
By Jason Willis
Likely trade value: Third-round pick
A projected starter in 2022, why would the Raiders trade Trayvon Mullen away? Well, this move is contingent on the signing of cornerback Stephon Gilmore. If Gilmore is brought on, he would likely be doing so as a starter. Of course, they also traded for another corner in Rock Ya-Sin from the Indianapolis Colts. With Hobbs playing the slot, there may not be a spot available for Mullen in 2022.
Similar to Ferrell, the Raiders’ new front office has no attachments to Mullen. They did not draft him and have had no part in his development. Mullen is also in the last year of his deal and missed significant time in 2021 due to injury. As everyone knows, the NFL is a “what have you done for me lately?” business, and Mullen was not available enough last season.
That said, he is a quality young cornerback at just 24 years old. Playing a valuable position, there are plenty of teams who would love to add the former Clemson stand out to their roster for the 2022 season. As such, he may be the Raiders’ best chance to add a pick on day two of the NFL Draft, likely in the third round.
