Raiders: Question for each defensive position group entering the 2022 summer

Defensive End: What is the ceiling for Maxx Crosby?

During the 2019 NFL Draft, the Raiders used the No. 4 overall pick on Clelin Ferrell, a national title-winning defensive end from Clemson. Ferrell was supposed to be the edge rusher that made Raiders fans forget about Khalil Mack, but in the end, he ended up being a bust, and no longer even plays the position.

In that same draft, the Raiders selected Eastern Michigan star Maxx Crosby in the fourth round, and through his first three seasons, he has become one of the best young defensive players in the NFL. Crosby plays with an incredible motor and commands double and triple-teams sometimes, but he has still racked up 25 sacks already in his career.

As a rookie, Crosby got to ten sacks, his only double-digit season so far, but what is the ceiling for him. With more talent around him, and a new scheme, he could end up being a 15-sack guy this year, and possibly make a legitimate run at the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year honor.
