Reviewing the current inside linebackers for the Las Vegas Raiders

Kenny Young

As mentioned, Kenny Young is the most recent linebacker signing in Las Vegas. The similarities between Young and Kiser are actually astonishing. In both the ’19 and ’20 seasons, both of these linebackers were members of the Rams. Mid-way through ’21, Young found himself go from the Rams to playing in Denver, once again alongside Kiser. Now, like Kiser, Young finds himself as a Raider.

Being teammates for three different teams in the span of three-years is quite the coincidence, but that’s not all there is to talk about with Young. Like Jayon Brown, we’re dealing with a true jack of all trades. Over Young’s four-year career, he’s marked 5.5 sacks, 4 pass defenses, 4 forced fumbles and 16 tackles behind the line. All together, Young has a combined 195 tackles.

Young had a 9.5% missed tackle percentage last season, but the two-seasons prior were in the 5%’s. Through his career, only 3 touchdowns have been given up, which is a minimal number considering the 101 times Young has been targeted through his career.

Like Kiser, Young has spent his career in a 3-4. He was a full-time starter for both the Rams and Broncos last season, and hopes to continue getting significant snaps for the Raiders. The competition is tight, but this is another scheme fit who plays his position well.
