What to make of the Las Vegas Raiders working out Colin Kaepernick
Can anything good come from a Raiders union with Kaepernick?
I know many folks don’t want to hear it, but the fact is, if the Raiders feel they can do something with Kaepernick, they might take a chance.
Actually, there’s a connection between the Raiders right now and Kaepernick, for what it’s worth. Current offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi actually spent time with the San Francisco 49ers as an offensive assistant and is familiar with Kaepernick.
It’s possible that Kaepernick could fill Marcus Mariota’s shoes as a specialist. He could be brought in on red-zone packages or draw plays. Let’s face it, the Raiders have one of the best offensive minds as head coach now. The possibilities with Kaepernick are there.
The truth is, if he can help the Raiders, Kaepernick would be more than just a publicity stunt. As far as football is concerned, the men who currently run the Raiders (McDaniels, Ziegler, etc.) know what they’re doing and were likely prepared for this scenario, as it has an added layer to it that goes beyond the gridiron.
They have this under control, whether you like it or not. This new Raiders regime goes at the beat of their own drum, so fans complaining on social media are likely the least of their worries, if at all.
