3 key ways the Las Vegas Raiders improved this offseason

Coaching

Staying with the ‘for years’ theme, it seems like the Raiders have been out-coached for years, especially when it comes to the coordinator positions. Sure, the biggest hire of them all was Josh McDaniels, who gets a second crack as head coach in the AFC West, but the coaches around him could make an even bigger impact.

Jon Gruden returned to the sidelines with much excitement and helped move the franchise in the right direction before being fired last season. In McDaniels, the Raiders have an exciting young head coach who has had plenty of success at the NFL level as a coordinator and now has to prove he can do it as the main man in charge.

Guys like Mick Lombardi, Patrick Graham, Chris Ash, and Carmen Bricillo are all exciting hires, as are Antonio Pierce and Bob Ryan to name a few. Overall, this is a much better coaching staff than the one Gruden put around him, and when it comes to game planning, the Raiders should be more prepared every week than they were a year ago.
