Hunter Renfrow has been a standout player for the Las Vegas Raiders for years now, and on Friday, he got paid like one, inking an extension.
The worst kept secret in the Raiders front office has finally hit the papers; Hunter Renfrow, the dynamic slot receiver for the team has officially signed a contract extension.
The two-year, $32M extension gives the former fifth-round pick not only a significant pay raise but also makes the once “underappreciated” first time Pro Bowl selection, one of the highest paid players on the Las Vegas roster.
After trading for and making wide receiver Davante Adams, one of the highest-paid players at his position, Las Vegas is locking up another key player at the position in Renfrow. The former Clemson product was not only spectacular last season but at times seemed like the only reliable option for quarterback Derek Carr.
Raiders finally pay Renfrow what he is worth
The money no longer makes Renfrow one of the most undervalued players at not only his position but in the league. He now ranks among some of the league’s best at annual average. Although it is nowhere near the top as Adams is making nearly double the amount of Renfrow.
At just over 15m a season, Renfrow is actually a steal considering his numbers from a season ago. Renfrow led the Raiders by large margins in receptions, yards and receiving touchdowns.
Now the Raiders lock up one their core players for at least three more seasons, and at 26-years-old, some of the best seasons may lie ahead for the dependable Renfrow.
