A rich history of friendship that never stopped growing, and a trade that almost happened. Why Raiders star WR Davante Adams won’t regress in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Raiders stars Davante Adams and Derek Carr – Classmates, best friends, and now, teammates.

For years, there had been whispers floating around in the Raiders’ facility. While it was always a pleasant thought, it started to separate further and further from reality as time went on. The whispers never went away, though, no matter how untrue they began to seem. Needless to say, I speak of Davante Adams coming to play with Derek Carr in a Raiders uniform.

Then, without warning, it happened.

In March of 2022, the Raiders shocked the NFL world when it was reported that Davante Adams was on his way to Las Vegas. To get the superstar to Nevada, it cost a first and second-round pick in the ’22 NFL draft; A small price to pay for the best there is when it comes to his craft. In addition, Adams inked a 5y, $141.25M deal with the Silver and Black.

Raiders’ quarterback Derek Carr and Davante Adams started their journey together back at Fresno State, where the two collectively rewrote the school’s history books. From there, they would enter the NFL draft together, splitting up at the professional level; Carr to the Raiders, Adams to Green Bay.

The pair kept in touch over the years, and in a preseason contest against the Packers in 2018, Carr tossed some passes to Adams on the Raiders’ own field during pre-game warmups. Watching the two team up for the first time at the professional level was refreshing, even if it was a brief period. Behind the scenes, however, neither had any intention of their moment together being brief.

Earlier in June, On the Rich Eisen Show, David Carr stated this trade was years in the making.

“It’s been something that they’ve tried to make happen for five years now”, Carr told Eisen. “A couple years ago they were really close to making that happen.”

After all the time that’s passed by, Davante Adams is now a Raider, alongside his best friend Derek Carr. In the eyes of some fans, though, not everything is sunshine and roses for Las Vegas. Shockingly, there’s a notable-sized group of people who are all-in on the theory that Davante Adams will regress, going from Aaron Rodgers to Derek Carr.

I know, Raider Nation; Reading that is upsetting. Not to worry – The theory will be dissected and disproven all throughout this read. Sit back, and enjoy.
