Nate Hobbs

The expectations for Tre’Von Moehrig going into his rookie season were pretty high, much higher than the defensive back from Illinois that the team selected on Day 3. In fact, Nate Hobbs was supposed to be a depth guy more than anything in Year 1, but it was clear early on that he was going to be a contributor to this team in 2021.

Hobbs ended up doing way more than just contributing, putting together an incredible rookie season, and cementing himself as a long-term starter for the Raiders franchise. When all was said and done, Hobbs not only had a better season than most defensive rookies in the league but established himself as a premier slot cornerback.

That will prove huge this upcoming season, as the Raiders now have some good, young players that they can build their secondary around. Hobbs was outstanding as a rookie, and if he can clean up some of the off-the-field stuff, he should be a very good Raiders player for a very long time.
