Raiders 2022 Training Camp: From Sleeper to Starter?

Darien Butler

Darien Butler is another young player making waves in Raiders camp. Butler comes from Arizona State with new linebackers coach Antonio Pierce and already had an inside track to at least a practice squad spot.

However, Butler has flashed to the point of receiving starting reps. It is unlikely that he will unseat Denzel Perryman, Divine Deablo, or Jayon Brown, but he can be a quality depth piece that plays solid special teams.

Special teams will be the key to Butler making the team. Aside from flashing on defense, Butler will need to unseat Kenny Young or Micah Kiser on special teams to make the final roster. If Butler continues to see reps with the starters, his place on the roster will be all but cemented.
