Las Vegas Raiders vs Texans 2022 Week 7: Bold Predictions

Raiders limit Pierce to a season-low in rushing yards

As Las Vegas watches film in preparation for the Texans on Sunday, it’s clear who their lone offensive threat is: rookie running back Dameon Pierce. Houston is 26th in scoring offense with an average of just 17.2 PPG, but the Silver and Black can’t afford to overlook their opponent’s strength on the ground.

Pierce enters Week 7 coming off three-straight games with 80+ rushing yards, including a Week 4 performance where he finished with 131 yards on the ground on 14 carries.

The game plan should be simple: limit Pierce and the Texans should struggle to generate little if any, offense.

To the Raiders’ credit, they have been solid against the run through seven weeks. Entering Sunday’s contest, the Silver and Black allow 103.2 rushing yards per game, which is tied for the sixth-fewest in the league. With the added motivation to right the ship, we foresee the Raiders limiting Pierce to fewer than 33 yards on the ground, which would mark a season low for the Texans’ rookie.
