The Las Vegas Raiders are still looking for their next starting quarterback, but their former signal-caller, officially signed with the Saints this weekend.

The Las Vegas Raiders go into the 2023 offseason with a gaping hole at quarterback, this after the team released nine-year veteran, Derek Carr. It did not take Carr long to find his new home, as he visited the New Orleans Saints before his release, and signed with them after.

On Saturday, Carr and his family were in New Orleans to sign on the dotted line, making his move to the Bayou official. His family also took in a New Orleans Pelicans game, and it is clear that he has moved on from the Silver and Black, and is ready to put on the Gold and Black.

For the Raiders, their search for his replacement continues, and it is looking more and more likely that they could be in the market to draft one early on Day 1 of the 2023 NFL Draft. However, to get the elite of the elite, they are going to have to move up from No. 7 overall.

Raiders star creates more cap space

Going into the weekend, Las Vegas already had a lot of cap space, as the release of Carr put them in the top-5 in terms of how much money they can spend in free agency this offseason. On Saturday, they bolstered that number a bit, as Maxx Crosby restructured his deal, freeing up over $7 million against the cap this offseason.

With holes on both sides of the ball, including the need to bring in some elite defensive talent, this is a perfect time for Las Vegas to have some kind of cap flexibility.

With over $40 million in cap space and some serious draft capital, the Raiders organization is in for a facelift this offseason. Hopefully, they have the right guy at the helm in second-year general manager David Ziegler, who had a very so-so debut last year.
