Arrowheaddict is reporting on an interesting bit of information. I am hearing from Raider sources that the deal isn’t done, and the Addict is reporting that Hall “was telling radio listeners in Hotlanta that he’d be wearing red for a team that plays in the AFC West next season. [And] If that’s the case, Oakland just might be donning some crimson on their unis in 2008.” Which I doubt, so maybe the deal isn’t done, and might not happen.
Chris Mortenson is also reporting that the Raiders will sign Hall to a contract close to what Assante Samule signed in Philly, but [...]

Raiders Sign Drew Carter
Yesterday the Oakland Raiders met with Drew Carter in Alameda and it looks like after over 24hours, Carter will soon be a Raider. No financial terms yet available, but the contract is reported to be for 1-year. This still leaves the Raiders in good shape to take a wideout on Day-1 of the NFL Draft that can take Carter’s place in 2009. This also puts a lot of pressure on Carter to play well so that he can cash in on next year’s estimated $125 million dollar NFL salary cap. No matter how it pans out it’s one of the Raiders safest signings [...]
Negotiations Continue with Gray
As reported two days ago, former Jacksonville Jaguars’ quarterback and unrestricted free-agent, Quinn Gray, was scheduled to visit the Oakland Raiders yesterday. There are no reports on how the visit went, but according to Screaming Sports.com, “contract negotiations are expected to continue with Gray today.”

Mock Draft (First 10 Picks)
I’m going to come out and boldly predict that the Miami Dolphins (Bill Parcells) will draft Sedrick Ellis (6′1″ 309lbs, benched 225lbs 34 times) with the first overall selection. I say this because of my evaluation of Howie’s kid. Chris Long put up a 40-yard dash equal to a fast defensive end (4.75), but chose not to be tested at the bench press. You need to have the strength to take on 2 blockers at DE in a 3-4, so not benching tells me he doesn’t have the upper body strength to play there; so rule that out.
Shawn Merriman, and DeMarcus Ware all ran around [...]
For Instance (Sedrick Ellis)
Sedrick Ellis’ performance from the Senior Bowl. There’s at least one play where he lines up at nose tackle, and another that he might be at the nose, but could be playing the 3-technique in the 4-3.
The second play is a great example of what he can do in a 3-4. You’ll notice him quickly put his hands on both guys in front of him showing great speed and athleticism to get around the men and to the quarterback. Ellis’ weekly approach while at USC, and his 34 reps at the bench shows he can overpower most opponents. I think Ellis realized that he’s going to need more than just power to [...]
Dominic Rhodes helped to clear cap space for the 2008 season by restructuring his contract from $3 million to $1.75 million. I did not see Rhodes returning for next season, but this definitely changes things. All the uncertainty that comes with the Oakland Raider running backs (Fargas-injuries, Rhodes-inconsistent and a little overrated, Michael Bush-injury) leaves me to still believe the Raiders can select Darren McFadden if he’s the best player available at the #4 spot.
Cornell Green did not make it past Week 11, but played well before suffering a season ending knee injury. Green gives the Raiders insurance at right tackle if there [...]
With the whole Brett Favre thing going on yesterday the free-agent market took sort of a day of rest, but the Raiders are on the west coast, and as midnight on the east coast neared, the Raiders announced the signings of Javon Walker and Kwame Harris.
In my post last night I wrote that I had a few questions before passing any final judgment on the Walker signing, and like always, it took me only a couple of hours before I found the answers.
I wrote that I was worried about the amount of guaranteed money in the first couple years of [...]
Salary Confirmation
Here are some excerpts from a posting Jerry McDonald did on the Oakland Raiders recently signed contracts.
Apparently sensitive to the perception that they are recklessly throwing millions of dollars at free agents who ordinarily wouldn’t give the Raiders a second look, the club took the unusual step Wednesday of confirming (or in their mind, correcting) some salary figures.
Frankly, the idea of being free spenders is good publicity, because it brings interest and a sense of confidence not only for the fan base, but draws in more potential free agents.
The Javon Walker deal will pay the wide receiver $16 million over [...]
Taken a break from free-agency to post this clip of BayUp TV’s footage from Oakland Raider middle-linebacker Kirk Morrison’s birthday party. It’s good to see the Raiders two best players (Morrison and Thomas Howard) relaxing, because it’s gotta be tough to stay positive when you work so hard and perform at such a high level, but experience so few victories (Morrison: 121 tackles, 10 pass defended, and 4 interceptions/Howard: 96 tackles, 11 passes defended, and 6 int’s). I wonder how much longer they can stay positive while everyone else on the team fails to perform at their level. At least Morrison’s from my neighborhood and I think it’ll [...]
Javon Walker to Oakland
ESPN is reporting that Javon Walker has signed a contract with the Oakland Raiders.
The terms of the deal call for Walker to receive a six-year, $55 million contract that includes more than $16 million in guarantees and pays him roughly $27 million over the first three years of the deal.
Soon after being released, at least a third of the league reached out to the six-year veteran
I’m going to let this deal sit for a minute before commenting too much, but my initial thoughts are that this signing is a good one. The Raiders gave him money that he probably wasn’t going to see elsewhere, but not enough [...]
