Gabe Jackson, Carlos Rogers Ruled out for Oakland Raiders
By Chase Ruttig
2014 third round guard Gabe Jackson and 2014 free agent cornerback Carlos Rogers will both be absent once again for the Oakland Raiders on Sunday when the Silver and Black travel to Southern California to take on the San Diego Chargers for the final time this season in a highly anticipated rematch of the two AFC West rivals.
According to Vic Tafur both Jackson and Rogers have been ruled out on Sunday. Unsurprising considering that both have been inactive in practice, which already had hopes low that the two would be able to return for Sunday’s game in San Diego.

Jackson’s knee injury is rightfully being approached cautiously as the rookie out of Miss. State is a valuable piece in the Raiders current rebuild which means that risking his knee to further damage isn’t worth it in a 0-9 season for the team even if he needs the snaps to prepare for the 2015 season. Rogers case is a bit different as the veteran has been having troubles getting onto the field for much of November and could see his starting job taken by promising youngsters in DJ Hayden and TJ Carrie. Both young cornerbacks have arguably outplayed the former 49ers defensive back, so it will be interesting to see how the team approaches the situation once Rogers heals up enough to return to game action.
With a banged up secondary expect the Raiders to continue to work in the likes of Neiko Thorpe and perhaps Keith McGill this weekend, at this point it may not be a negative as the younger corners get an opportunity to earn snaps with the maligned Rogers out of the lineup and off the depth chart for the time being.
